Physical intrusion detection

Contents

Physical intrusion detection is the process of detecting when an adversary enters or attempts to enter a space, for example for a covert house search. You can do this by making sure there is always someone in the space who would notice if an adversary tried to enter, or by monitoring the space with a video surveillance system.

A video surveillance system that monitors a space can have the following characteristics:

Techniques addressed by this mitigation

NameDescription
Covert house search

You can use physical intrusion detection to detect a covert house search.

Covert surveillance devices
Audio

An adversary often needs to covertly enter a space to install a covert audio surveillance device in the space. You can use physical intrusion detection to detect such a covert entry.

Location

An adversary often needs to covertly enter the space where a vehicle is parked to install a covert location surveillance device on the vehicle. You can use physical intrusion detection to detect such a covert entry.

Video

An adversary often needs to covertly enter a space to install a covert video surveillance device in the space. You can use physical intrusion detection to detect such a covert entry.

Evidence fabrication

An adversary often needs to covertly enter a space to plant evidence in the space. You can use physical intrusion detection to detect such a covert entry.

Targeted digital surveillance
Physical access

You can use physical intrusion detection to detect when a space has been physically accessed by an adversary.
